March 1st has arrived! It is time to announce 2008's Art Contest Winners!
From The Editor:
Wow! Is it really time to announce the judges' decisions on who had the best artwork? The artists who entered have really challenged us in picking a "best" among the entries for this first contest with Pond Ripples. As one judge stated, "They're all at least honorable mentions!"
We received entries from five states in the U. S. and even one from Ontario, Canada. Unfortunately, for me, we only received eight entries total. So Pond Ripples has had to change a few things for continued success. Do not worry, the winners will still get the promised prize money, but Pond Ripples will be changing formats to an e-zine. This is good news for all of you, because subscriptions are now free and will come straight to your inbox every month instead of one issue every three months coming through snail mail. It is still a goal to become a printed magazine in the future, but I cannot promise how far in the future that will be. More good news comes with this change as well. With less overhead to pay for Pond Ripples will now be a paying market! See the guidelines page for more information on what the magazine is looking for.
I know you can't stand the suspense, but before I start sharing the winners, I must stress that all entries were wonderful, and the other judges and I really struggled to pick "winners." Those of you that did not "win" will probably be contacted in the future for your work to be printed in the e-zine.
The following winners will receive $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. Checks will be mailed out in two weeks. These works of art will also be featured in the first three issues of the e-zine, which will begin in May 2008. Get all your friends signed up! It's free!
Congratulations to the winners and give a cheer to all who entered for taking a chance. Keep going. You are on the path to success.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Burgener, editor
