Art Contest Winners!
Poetry Contest Winners!

The Short Story Contest
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I knew my wonderful subscribers would come through for me. I officially have five entries now, and I may gain a few more in the next few days. I'm waiting on entry fees before other stories can be official. I'm so excited! Winners will be announced December 1st!

Remember also that the art contest deadline for 2009 will be here on the first of the year!

Sad Announcement
I only received two entries for the photography contest, so I have had to cancel it this year. I'm also changing some things about the prize money, so you may want to check that out below before entering another contest.

Pond Ripples holds four contests per year. There will be a five dollar entry fee for each contest entry and all items must be family-friendly but not necessarily kid-oriented. All contest winners will be displayed on the website.

Yearly Themes

Every year I will announce a theme. All contest entries should be submitted with that year's theme in mind, but the themes may be interpreted however your imagination guides you.

2008 Theme - Quiet. Think of the quietest things you can as you create.

2009 Theme - Noise! Portray the grandest booms and crashes you possibly can.

Categories

Art - This may be in black and white or color.

Poetry - Keep the poetry entries down to one page or about 25 lines with size twelve font.

Photography - This may also be in black and white or color.

Short Story - These may be up to 2,500 words long. All submissions should be double-spaced with size twelve font.

Deadlines

Unless otherwise noted, contest deadlines will remain the same each year.

Art Deadline - January 1st with Winners Announced March 1st

Poetry Deadline - April 1st with Winners Announced June 1st

Photography Deadline - July 1st with Winners Announced September 1st

Short Story Deadline - October 1st with Winners Announced December 1st

The Prizes

First Prize - Up to $100 Cash!

Second Prize - Up to $50 Cash!

Third Prize - Up to $25 Cash!

Okay, let me break down what the "Up To $x" really means. I can no longer lose money on these contests so I need to add a few regulations.
As my mag grows, I will hopefully be able to remove these additional regulations, because there will be enough entries to cover the prize money. Then I will be able to pay my contributors more. Then I will be able to offer more prize money. Then I will be able to . . . Oh, the dreams!

I hope you all can live with these changes. I am looking forward to reading many short story contest entries. Send them in!
