Moored in Heaven Like Stars by Laura Lynn Gatzow
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.–Hebrews 11:1
Like breath on wintry nights, our souls will pass.
Ethereal wisps—a halyard loosed, untied—
divided from our bodies, free at last.
*
Snow falls, each glorious flake with facets cast
by grand Designer’s hand, we must decide.
Like breath on wintry nights, our souls will pass.
*
Such glimpses into Heaven’s sweet forecast
are all we need to know. We will abide,
divided from our bodies, free at last.
*
Just look at Nature’s handiwork—how blessed
we are to hear Aldebaran confide:
like breath on wintry nights, our souls will pass.
*
We have a promise from our God steadfast,
that lilies won’t outshine what he provides—
divided from our bodies, free at last.
*
“Will we, when Winter comes, feel Heaven’s vast,
eternal light, her warm embrace?” I sighed.
Like breath on wintry nights, my soul has passed,
divided from my body, free at last.
